Jennifer Lopez would tell her younger self to stay grounded.

The 45-year-old singer-and-actress is a worldwide star with eight studios albums and has 38 acting credits to her name.

She rose to prominence playing the lead role in movie Selena in 1997, and says if she had the chance to offer her younger self some advice, it would be to love herself.

"Keep your feet on the ground, don't forget who you are, and love yourself... appreciate yourself," Jennifer told People magazine.

"I think that a lot of women, especially, give so much love away, and we forget about ourselves. And the only way to have really beautiful and fulfilling relationships is to love yourself too."

The star remains optimistic about love despite having three failed marriages behind her. She first got hitched to Ojani Noa in 1997, just as she hit the big time, before they divorced a year later. She then married dancer Cris Judd in 2001, before splitting in 2003. Her third union was with Latino star Marc Anthony, and the former couple are proud parents to twins Emme and Maximilian, but their divorce was finalised earlier this year.

Jennifer has also enjoyed high-profile flings with Ben Affleck and Puff Daddy, and recently split from long-term boyfriend Casper Smart amid rumours he'd been unfaithful with a transsexual model.

“My divorce [to Marc] was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through. But you come out of it a lot stronger. I still believe in love as deeply as I ever have,” she previously admitted to the American edition on OK! magazine.

“My message has always been about love. In my first few albums, I talked about it in more of a fairytale way, wishing and hoping for it, when it went wrong and when it went right. This album [A.K.A.] is still about love, but it’s about exploring its complexities."
