Ed Sheeran was stunned to discover David Cameron is such a big fan.

The English singer-songwriter was at a house party attended by the UK prime minister over the summer.

And Ed admits he couldn’t believe when he looked up to see the politician singing along as he strummed his guitar and played a set for guests.

"David Cameron came down to one of my gigs the other day. I looked up and he was there, just randomly,” Ed told UK newspaper The Mirror.

"He was singing along. Someone stopped me and asked me to dedicate a song to the prime minister. My last song was the A Team - so I dedicated that to him."

Ed is currently promoting his new album x, a follow-up to 2011's +.

The redheaded star will begin touring in just a few days, with plans to kick off the trek in Dublin, Ireland on October 3.

He’s also been busy playing matchmaker, and admitted he’s tried to set up good friend and frequent collaborator Taylor Swift.

"I have tried to set Taylor up with a few of my my friends," he said. "I have a lot of good looking friends."

The pair’s music seems to be at the forefront of his mind, however. Ed revealed they have worked together on a few new tracks as well, but he’s not sure when fans will get a listen.

"I'm just not sure where to put them,” he shrugged. "I don't usually have collaborations on my album."
