Rihanna is being looked at to “do the theme” of Bond 24, it is claimed.

Rumours that the 26-year-old Umbrella singer will join the cast of the next James Bond film spread over the weekend.

However, the Diamonds star may not be being looked at for an acting role in the movie.

“They are actually looking for her to do the theme and the role would just be an added bonus,” a source told Hollywood Life.

“There have definitely been discussions of her joining the cast to be a Bond Girl. But she will not be the most focused Bond Girl if she gets the part. It will be more of a glorified cameo,” the source added.

Filming for the next instalment of the Bond series is expected to start in coming months. Daniel Craig will once again star as the lead with Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris thought to appear. The film will be directed by Sam Mendes and is expected to be released in November 2015.

Rihanna previously appeared on-screen in Battleship, which was released to theatres in 2012. She also played herself in the comedy This Is The End. She will take up the role of voice actress in the animated film Home, which is scheduled for release in March of 2015.

Apparently the performer is a “big fan” of the James Bond franchise, a purported insider told the British newspaper the Daily Mirror.

"She didn't even need to think about it, she knows she wants to do it. She's really excited,” the insider explained to the Daily Mirror of Rihanna’s alleged desire to appear in one of the James Bond films.
