Rihanna has marvelled at the "audacity" of CBS wanting to use one of her songs, a week after pulling it from its Thursday Night Football show.
The network pulled the plug on using the star's song Run This Town in its show last week, following the Ray Rice domestic violence scandal. But it seems the company now wants to reinstate the tune, and the 26-year-old is far from impressed.
"CBS you pulled my song last week, now you wanna slide it back in this Thursday? NO, F**k you! Y'all are sad for penalizing me for this," she raged on Twitter. "The audacity... (sic)"
Problems arose after footage of former Baltimore Ravens player Ray, punching his then-fiancée in a lift and knocking her out cold, came to light. The couple are now married, but the star had his contract with the team terminated and the NFL has slammed him with an indefinite suspension.
Rihanna is no stranger to domestic violence after her highly publicised relationship with fellow singer Chris Brown ended with him assaulting her before the 51st Grammys in February 2009.
"We thought journalistically and from a tone standpoint, we needed to have the appropriate tone coverage," CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus said at the time.
Chris and Rihanna have rekindled their romance on a number of occasions since the incident, but while they are currently separated, the Barbadian beauty's frustration no doubt comes from wanting the media to stop dredging up the past and move on.
In a 2012 interview with Oprah Winfrey, she admitted she had made her peace with the Loyal singer.
"I have forgiven him," she said, though she admitted: "I was angry for a long time. I think he was the love of my life. He was my first love."
