Lily Allen's oldest daughter sings for their nanny.

The British star had a huge hit with Smile in 2006, but took a hiatus from the music industry to raise children Ethel, who turns three in November, and Marnie, now 20 months, with her husband Sam Cooper.

She doesn't mind if her little ones also look for a career in the spotlight - and it seems like Ethel is already showing signs of a true performer.

"My oldest daughter sang a song for my nanny the other day!" she laughed to the British edition of OK! magazine.

"I don't mind if they want to - I just want them to be happy. People shouldn't be steered to do anything unless they want to do[it], and as a parent you should encourage them."

The 29-year-old came back onto the music scene in 2012 and has been busy promoting her latest album Sheezus since. She's also been touring with her new tracks, but admits it's difficult juggling family life with her career.

"My dream is to be at home all the time, and when I am home I want to be working," she sighed.

"At the moment, I'm working so hard and moving so fast, I know when I stop I'll get ill. So having five days off, I'm worried I'm going to get sick.

"But I love getting to spend real time with my children. They came away with me most of the time, but when I'm working I'm working."
