5 Seconds of Summer’s next album is “like a Pokémon”.

The Australian boyband released their self-titled debut album, which includes hit single She Looks So Perfect, earlier this year and is already thinking about their second record.

“I don’t know if it’s different,” Michael Clifford said of the new album in an interview with MTV News. “It’s just maturing.”
“Evolving,” the others added. “Like a Pokémon.”

“Yeah, like a Pokémon,” Ashton Irwin agreed with his bandmates.

5SOS, which includes Michael, Ashton, Calum Hood and Luke Hemmings, hopes to have a new album out in 2015 before the group starts its headlining tour. Last month, the band admitted they hadn’t hit the studio yet as they were busy performing with One Direction on the Where We Are Tour.

“We haven’t had much time to get back in the studio at the moment,” Ashton told Billboard. “I think when you’re on the road you’ve got to just live out what’s happening, then when you get back to the studio you’ve got a lot to write about,” the star added.

5SOS’s first album took about two years to write, Calum told MTV News, adding that the group has “learned a lot” over the past couple of years.

“It’s kind of like a Squirtle,” Michael explained, returning to the Pokémon metaphor. “We’re Squirtle right now and we’re trying to evolve into a Wartortle.”

“For those out there who don’t understand a Pokémon metaphor, Michael was trying to say we’re evolving,” Ashton explained.
