Phil Rudd Confirms
AC/DC drummer has confirmed that the next AC/DC album is finished and was done in just 10 days. Rudd says the album is “stunning”.
It sounded so good. It is fucking good mate. That’s what I can tell you,” he told Noise11.com.
AC/DC have surrounded the album in secrecy to the point where Phil says he doesn’t know any of the song titles. “We don’t get the words, we just play the rhythm,” he said.
With founded member Malcolm Young out of the band because of illness, Phil Rudd has confirmed that the Young’s nephew Stevie Young is the guitarist on the new album. “Absolutely. I enjoyed playing with Stevie. I won’t say it was easy but I was very comfortable in that situation. I don’t make hard work out of it. In 10 days it was done”.
AC/DC have a reputation as being one of the hardest working bands in the business. In the early days in Australia AC/DC recorded all day and played all night. Their first five albums were released in just 2 ½ years. “We are a hard working band,” Phil says. “There was eight years between the last two tours and rightly so. You need eight years off. We have always worked hard. It is a hard working band. You know you are going to work fucking hard or you are out. I love it. It is the best gig you could possibly have as a drummer”.
Meanwhile while we await the next AC/DC album Phil Rudd has released his first solo album ‘Head Job’. ‘Head Job’ was recorded over the past 20 years in New Zealand with Phil’s friends, NZ musos Allan Badger and Geoffrey Martin.
