Brandon Flowers says The Killers will "keep on digging".

The 33-year-old musician is the frontman of the popular indie band, who formed in 2001 and have enjoyed success with tracks such as When You Were Young and Shot at the Night.

They recently played at Reading and Leeds festival in the UK, but are now set to take a break from being a group.

Although a compilation album titled Direct Hits was released last year, Brandon insists that didn't mark the end.

"I wanna keep being in this band. I don't think we'll get too morbid about it, I think we wanna keep going," he told NME.

"We've been lucky and we've checked off a lot of boxes, but you always want to grow and get better, write songs that you haven't written. And maybe that no one else has written... We're explorers, and so we're going to keep on digging."

Being away from his bandmates, Dave Keuning, Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci, Jr., Brandon is now focusing on his second solo venture. He released his first album alone, titled Flamingo, in 2010 and for his follow-up he has joined forces with producer Ariel Rechtshaid, who has worked with the likes of Haim and Vampire Weekend.

Brandon has revealed the new record will be released next year, and hinted Ariel took him in a new direction with his sound.
"The record's not done yet, but I'm excited about it... I'm liking it," the rocker smiled.

"[Ariel is] taking me out of my comfort zone. Normally I make demos and they're pretty similar to how the song ends up. But he'll take the song and be like, 'I hear this'. It's incredible - his palette and his range, what he's able to say."
