The iconic House of Blues on the legendary Sunset Strip in West Hollywood will be torn down and make way for a block of flats.

In a statement to the LAist, management for the House of Blues confirmed, “Our legendary House of Blues on Sunset Blvd.— the flagship for 20 years of our popular venues around the country — will operate business as usual while we look for a new home. We have a terrific relationship with our landlord who has other plans to develop the property and we’re working together on a very smooth transition. We have at least three years to find that perfect spot for a new Los Angeles House of Blues home with no interruption for music fans. Stay tuned. The best is yet to come”.

House of Blues at 8430 Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood opened in 1994. The closure of House of Blues West Hollywood is a another part of the slow change to the famed entertainment precinct of Los Angeles.

In 2013 The Key Club on the Strip was replaced with nightclub 1OAK. The Whiskey a Go Go, The Roxy and the Viper Room remain as rock venues but other music properties like Tower Records and Virgin Megastore have disappeared from the strip.

The House of Blues will look for a new location before closing on the strip in 2015.
