Nicole Scherzinger could be up for a role in Cats the musical.

The singer started off as part of girl band The Pussycat Dolls, before going her separate way in 2010.

She's now a success in her own right, having released a solo album, appeared on The X Factor US and UK and scored campaigns for the likes of Herbal Essences.

Now she could be set to perform as a different kind of pussycat in the revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's popular musical, which will kick off in London in December.

According to MailOnline's Baz Bamigboye, the part of Grizabella the Glamour Cat could be Nicole's.

"It’s a lovely idea, and Nicole would be perfect for Grizabella," an executive in the know told the entertainment reporter.

However, the source also added that negotiations were at an early stage and could still fall through by the weekend.

"However, there’s desire on both sides for this to work," they added.

The show is largely about dancing, which wouldn't be a problem for the 36-year-old, who performed in a burlesque style with The Pussycat Dolls. However, Grizabella's role involves mainly singing, as she takes on iconic song Memory.

Nicole is no stranger to British composer Andrew - she even performed Don't Cry for Me Argentina at an event in 2013 that celebrated his 40 years in music.

According to the gossip he's "very much interested" in working with the gorgeous star, who is dating UK Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton.

The Cats revival will be on at the London Palladium near the city's iconic Oxford Street.
