Lil Wayne is “always feeling” like he hasn’t “done sh*t”.

The 31-year-old rapper began emceeing with Cash Money records at the age of nine, and he has since carved out an illustrious career in entertainment, including releasing hits such as Lollipop and Got Money. His newest studio album, Tha Carter V, will come out later this year.

“I’m always feeling like I ain’t done shit. I’m still nervous about Tha Carter V,” he told XXL. “I’m confident about what I do, but I’m still nervous about what people think.”

While there is no official release date for the record, the single Believe Me, which features vocals from Drake, came out earlier this year.

“I was feeling the success of Tha Carter I. I felt like people wanted to hear me. I was amped to do that, but then Tha Carter III? I don’t know what happened. It was amazing. And then Tha Carter IV was just unexplainable, and now this one here, there’s no words. I just hope everyone likes it,” he shared with the publication.

While Lil Wayne has a number of influences, his major musical role model is Prince. The performer says it was the way Prince “pronounced words” and “used his voice”.

“It was like if he was playing with a baby,” the star elaborated. “It was the way that he was exploring it. He wasn’t doing it because it was funny. He was doing it because he could make it sound good and exceptional. I realized that I could do that too.”
