Mick Jagger supposedly spent his birthday drinking sparkling water over brunch.

The Rolling Stones singer turned 71 on July 26 and according to Page Six he celebrated the event with his family at Michelin-starred eatery, Hakkasan New York.

Apparently eight loved ones dined with Mick at the restaurant, including his daughters Georgia May and Karis.

It is claimed he preferred to drink sparkling water while his offspring toasted to his new age with Brooklyn Pilsner beer.

The family is said to have eaten like kings at the occasion, having been served dumplings, Wagyu beef, prawn toast and barbecued lamb.

Mick is currently promoting a new film he produced with Brian Grazer through his company Jagged Films, a biopic on the life of James Brown called Get on Up. The rock legend was heavily involved in the movie, working on everything from the casting to the storyline to the choreography.

He recently stated participating in the production felt more like a personal experience than a job because it brought up loads of memories.

"You can hear that he's a great performer, and I was picturing how he would dance,” The Rolling Stones singer recalled in a recent interview with USA Today about the first time he heard James sing in singles such as Try Me and Think! “Then I went to see him at the Apollo and I was blown away. I was impressed by how hard he worked and how he had the audience in the palm of his hand. That was a learning experience for me."

Get on Up will be released on August 1 and debuted at the Apollo in New York last week.
