Cody Simpson and Justin Bieber are working on a “real cool acoustic project”.

The two pop sensations, who both launched their careers after becoming YouTube stars, announced they were collaborating on some new music last month. Cody, 17, and Justin, 20, have apparently been spending time in the recording studio working on a “bunch” of music.

“We’re not really sure what it’s going to be yet, but you’ll hear something this year,” Cody told Hollywood Life, explaining that part of the duo’s work includes a “real cool acoustic project”.

The Surfboard star revealed the pair has been in studio for around two weeks working on “something pretty cool”. And while they have been creating a “bunch of music”, the Pretty Brown Eyes hitmaker isn’t sure where the relationship is going yet.

“It might be a little more than a song,” he explained. “We’ve just been messing around the guitars and just working on a bunch of music.”

In 2009, when Cody first made it big, he served as the opening act at a number of stops on Justin’s Believe tour. The musician previously told ET Online he doesn’t think he and Justin have very much in common outside of their music. The Aussie felt they are “both heading in different directions” as they ”grow up”.

"He's becoming a cool musical mate of mine,” the singer added, however.

While working together, the two pop stars “go in the booth” and think of “different melodies and put together” what they “think is the best”, according to Cody.
