Selena Gomez has revealed a new tattoo.
The 21-year-old got her latest inking on the upper right side of her back during a trip to New York last month. Celebrity tattoo artist “Bang Bang” McCurdy had the pleasure of carrying out the task, but said it wasn’t a spur of the moment decision for Selena.
“She had been wanting this one for a while,” he told E! Online about the Arabic scrawling. “Its meaning translates to 'Love Yourself,’” he explained.
The brunette visited his studio with friends but minus on-off boyfriend and fellow body art fan Justin Bieber. It isn’t the Come & Get It singer’s first inking, however. According to Bang Bang, she has around five or six adorning her body.
“Selena already had it written out how she wanted," he added. "The tattoo is about four inches, and didn't take too long, probably about 30-45 minutes. The longest part is laying it out. We played with it a bit laying it out, until we found the perfect spot."
Bang Bang has left his mark on a number of celebrities including Rita Ora, Rihanna and Chris Brown. Selena’s latest tattoo is her third at his studio, and from her reaction to her new addition, it won’t be her last.
“She loved it; she flipped out!” he said. “When we did that one, she was talking about another one. But we haven't talked plans just yet. There are always plans to do another one.”
Bang Bang was actually introduced to Justin, who is now quite heavily tattooed, by his on-off girlfriend.
During one of her past inking sessions, the former Disney star told him "you're going to tattoo my boyfriend”, and he has also made numerous return trips since.
