Karrueche Tran has revealed what it was like to not only battle with Rihanna, but her millions of fans too.
The model came under fire from the Stay singer and her legion of supporters after she started dating her ex, Chris Brown. It was the first time the 26-year-old had had a relationship with someone famous but an already tricky situation was made worse by his even better known former girlfriend.
“I've never dated a celebrity before so it was very new to me, paparazzi and all that," she told Keke Palmer on her new talk show, Just Keke. “And then, even the situation with Rihanna, you know the reason why people turned into this so much was because it's relatable. I have girlfriends, I have family who's gone through the same situation. It's the case of the ex. We all go through it, [but] in this case my boyfriend is a celebrity whose ex-girlfriend is an even bigger [celebrity]…so, I'm not only am I fighting a battle with her, I'm fighting a battle with her 14 million fans.”
Chris began an on again, off again relationship with Karrueche in 2010. The pair became a couple about one year after his 2009 split from Rihanna, following his conviction for assaulting the pop star. With the power of social media, the beauty has been able to see firsthand what the Barbadian star’s fans think of her.
“So, imagine how that feels for me when I gotta get on Twitter and I see a whole bunch of stuff…they make up all kinds of crazy stuff and it's like they know nothing about me,” she continued. “But, you know, because they know nothing about me, because I stay so mute sometimes, that leaves open space for them to say whatever they want."
