Louis Tomlinson believes he needs to “mature” now that he owns a football club.
The 22-year-old One Direction singer became the new owner of the Doncaster Rovers FC this week.
But he admits to UK newspaper The Sun he’s got some serious growing up to do before he starts conducting board meetings.
“I have to mature a little bit,” he told the outlet. “This is life-changing for me. I’m going to have to start acting dead serious. I can’t be a big kid any more or play pranks.”
Louis said he “absolutely” plans to be “very involved” with the club.
Although 1D is currently on tour, he intends to make the team a top priority. However, he admits the prospect of running things is already weighing heavily on him.
“I will be committing a lot of time to it. I’ve said that I want to be across absolutely everything.
“I’ll definitely be going to board meetings, which is ridiculous, but I guess I am a businessman now,” he said.
The Sun reports Louis made sure to get the OK from bandmates Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik before he made the purchase.
Fortunately, he says his fellow pop stars gave him their full support.
“With anything like this, it’s always polite and nice to ask. It’s nice to have their backing,” Louis explained.
“I said, ‘Look boys, I’m going to do this. Do any of you have any problems with it?’ All the boys were super-supportive — especially Niall, who is very, very excited.”
But he also insists his work with 1D won’t take a backseat.
Reassuring his fans, he added: “Football is definitely not a bigger passion than music — the two are on a par.”
