Deadline Hollywood has reported that NBC is in the process of developing and eight-part miniseries chronicling the career of the Beatles.
The series is being developed by Michael Hirst who created and was executive producer of The Tudors about the life of King Henry VIII for Showtime. He will write the series and produce with Tudors partners Ben Silverman and Teri Weinberg. Bob Greenblatt, who ran Showtime when The Tudors was shown, now runs NBC and has give the go ahead for the series.
The Beatles story is pretty much untouched territory in the world of entertainment. The closest biofilm of the band was Backbeat about their time in Hamburg, Germany. The 1994 film starred Ian Hart as John Lennon, Gary Bakewell as Paul McCartney, Chris O'Neill as George Harrison, Scot Williams as Pete Best and Stephen Dorff as Stu Sutcliffe.
Lennon has been portrayed in films such as The Killing of John Lennon (2006) and Nowhere Boy (2009) while McCartney was obviously part of the TV movie The Linda McCartney Story (2000).
