Paris Jackson is reportedly “doing real well” a year after her alleged suicide attempt.
The 16-year-old daughter of the late Michael Jackson has reportedly spent much of the last year at a Utah boarding school after her apparent struggle with depression culminated with a tragic incident on June 5, 2013.
But a source told E! News on Thursday the teen’s outlook is now much brighter.
"She is doing a lot better. She is getting back to normal. I think she has made quite a bit of progress over the past year,” the source said.
Paris has reportedly made new friends at the school and continues to stay in touch with her pals back home.
The insider believes getting away from Los Angeles has done wonders for Paris, who apparently has plans to return eventually.
"Utah has been exactly what she needed to get better. She is in a much better place than a year ago. It's just a matter of time before she comes home,” the insider said.
"There have been recent discussions on when she could come back and some talk as early as this summer or later this year, but everyone wants to make sure she is ready and that can be an evolving situation."
Paris previously joined her family on a vacation to Hawaii for her school’s Christmas break.
Despite all the good those close to her reportedly believe the time away is doing, reports suggested at the time she was reluctant to return.
“Paris enjoyed spending time with her brothers [Prince and Blanket] and co-guardian, TJ Jackson, in Hawaii for Christmas,” a source told Radar Online back in January.
“It was the first time she had been allowed to leave the boarding school since her suicide attempt last summer. The freedom that Paris experienced in Hawaii was intoxicating and she has been fighting with [her grandmother and guardian] Katherine since returning to the Calabasas mansion a few days ago, because her grandmother is steadfast in her belief that she must go back to Utah.”
A spokesperson for the family had not commented on the claims at press time.
