Lorde has "something different" planned for her North America tour.

The 17-year-old singer has had huge success with her debut album Pure Heroine and has been travelling the world to support the number-one record.

Now she's announced a whole new string of US shows, which kick off in Chicago on August 1.

"it's true, USA... i'm coming back out on the road this summer to play for you (!!!)" she excitedly posted on Twitter.

"and @majicalcloudz will be supporting every night-- if you haven't seen this man perform you are in for an intensely emotional and raw treat

"and for those of you who saw me first time, this is gonna be something different. i can't wait to show you what i got planned. (sic)"

The New Zealand born artist also revealed that she's working with a service that will protect members who sign up from ticket scalpers.

Lorde also had some exciting news for her British fans.

"and to top all that off, i will be opening for the crazies @arcadefire at their earls court show in london this coming week! (sic)"

The star will also be visiting states such as New York and California, before ending her North America tour in Texas on October 10.
