Niall Horan’s father wants “nothing” from his famous son.
Bobby Horan works as a butcher in his local grocery store Tesco, a job he has had for years.
Even though Niall has reportedly earned millions with One Direction, his father refuses to take any gifts from the star – including a luxury home in Mullingar, Co Westmeath.
“From day one, when Niall hit the big time, Bobby refused to take anything from him,” a source told UK newspaper The Mirror.
“Niall has offered to give him money in the past but he has refused. Bobby is down to earth and is happy as it is. He doesn’t want anything from Niall despite his huge fortune. Niall had offered to buy him a gorgeous house in the countryside but he just didn’t want it. The high life just isn’t for him.”
Niall has spoken about trying to convince his father to accept something from him, and how hard it is. According to the singer, Bobby has refused to take anything from Niall, so he is trying to respect his father’s wishes.
“I tried to give some money to my dad but he wouldn’t take it,” Niall said. "He’ll barely take a Christmas present off of me. I want to do up the house he lives in but at the same time I don’t want to be the idiot who walks in and throws money around.”
Bobby has spoken before about how much he enjoys his down-to-earth lifestyle and how proud he is of his son. He admits the only thing he might accept from him is a bike. "I want absolutely nothing from him. I’m happy with what I’ve got. There’s no way he’d offer me a car because I can’t drive. He might offer me a push bike, that would be nice, but I would never take a penny of his money,” he told the Irish Sunday Mirror.
