Wiz Khalifa made a cop believe he needed to call his wife so he could take a selfie from jail.

The 26-year-old star was arrested for marijuana possession in Texas on Sunday morning and then stunned fans by posting an image of himself incarcerated on Twitter. He’s explained how that came about, seeing as prisoners usually don’t have access to cell phones.

“[The officer] was p**sed,” he told Sway in the Morning. “Cause I was like, ‘Yo, can I get that phone, man? I really need to call my wife. I gotta tell her what happened.’ And he gave me the phone, and I was like, ‘Selfie!’

Wiz was taken into custody after he was found to have a green leafy substance in his possession while passing through El Paso airport. He has claimed he had ‘a grinder’ on him and was held for less than a day. It meant he was able to perform at Soundset festival in Minnesota as planned.

Wiz didn’t only post an image of himself online; he also took one of his cell door. He captioned that, “Free Trap Wiz,” which struck a chord with his fans on social networking sites – something he was delighted to see.

“It wasn’t really a surprise,” he explained. “It definitely felt good, though. It’s good to see people rally up for a good cause, ’cause you doing something positive over here. I’m a lot of kids’ hero. If you were to lock up the Ninja Turtles, I would have did exactly the same thing.”

Wiz also took to Twitter to thank his admirers for their support, explaining there are different types of people who look up to him.

“I appreciate all fans and supporters but theres def a difference. None better than the other. Just different,” he wrote.

“Fans'll make a supporter feel bad for standing up for what the believe. Supporters hardly give fans a chance to grow into something that could be real (sic).”
