Black Keys ‘Turn Blue’ has outsold Michael Jackson ‘Xscape’ in the US for first week sales.

It was a tight race, closer than any in recent memory, but the Black Keys have succeeded in scoring their first number 1 album and have denied Michael Jackson his eighth.

On Tuesday, the prognosticators at Hits Daily Double showed Jackson winning out with a slim margin of less than 600 units (161,909 to 161,337 based on a sampling of retailers) the final tally came out in the Black Keys’ favor 164,000 to 157,000 (via Soundscan).

Dolly Parton managed to place her new album, Blue Smoke at number 6 while Tori Amos and Michael W. Smith also made the top ten, a significant showing for veteran artists.
