Future says his son is "a mixture of both" himself and fiancée Ciara.

The pop star gave birth to the couple’s first child, a baby boy named Future Zahir Wilburn, earlier this week.

And the I’m Out hitmaker, who also shares an 11-year-old son with model Jessica Smith, told Us Weekly it’s “a blessing” to have welcomed his second child.

He also has high hopes for “baby Future”.

"I would encourage him in anything he wants to do. I want to be behind him, of course,” he said.

Future was in New York on Tuesday, a day after his son was born, for a performance at the Bacardi Rum and Vice Celebrate Cuban Independence Day.

But he said Ciara is back at home in Los Angeles and is doing “great”.

"I just texted her when I got off the airplane, and I'm going to get on the phone with her to see how everything is going,” Future said, gushing: "She'll be a great mom. She's working at it every day and over time, I think she'll be the best."

Ciara confirmed baby Future’s birth via social media on Tuesday, posting a photo of the newborn’s hand with the caption: “FUTURE ZAHIR WILBURN 9lbs 10oz May 19 2014.”

Ciara announced in January she was expecting.

The couple are expected to wed in the fall.
