After a winter of journeying Little Comets announce news of their second EP this year, right in the middle of the month of June.
Emotionally attuned after the arrival of another baby, Matthew, Robert and Michael, galvanized by the onset of bluebells, completed lyrics and an ever increasingly busy summer schedule continue their inimitable path onwards.
Finishing their recent sold out February tour in their Newcastle homeland, the band dipped straight into a darkened room to finish work on ‘Salt’ - the latest instalment of new material, the title track adheres to the blueprint adopted by the earlier ‘Gentle’ EP - a concept EP?
The song that laments the loss of child amidst a backdrop of case reviews and caustic barbs at stretched social infrastructures suffered at the hands of those wielding the financial might. Melding brutality and fragility with unforgiving commitment, supplemented by a duplet of songs about parenting and judgement couple with a pair of acoustic remouldings; ‘Salt’ is another staunch demonstration of writing from the gut.
With their forthcoming sojourn to the US accompanying the EP and appearances at major festivals both there - Governors Ball, Firefly, and this side of the water, the next two or three months should fly by without ease, tranquility or temperance.
