Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull premiered the 2014 World Cup anthem at Sunday's Billboard Music Awards.
The pair and Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte opened the show in Las Vegas on Sunday evening with their first live performance of the new song, We Are One (Ole Ola) - this year's official song for the FIFA World Cup.
JLo, who wore a leggy one-piece costume, took the stage as flags of the participating countries flashed behind the trio and the audience danced to the beat.
The song has been subject to controversy following the release of its music video, which Brazilians criticised for capturing cliches about their country, including samba dancers, capoeira and drumming.
The LA Times reports former MTV Brazil program director Leka Peres was among those unnerved by the track.
'You know that idea of an American that thinks the capital of Brazil is Argentina? That's what this is,' she tweeted. 'They grab two 'Latinos' from the world of global pop to make a song that has nothing to do with Brazil.'
JLo still had plenty to celebrate at the ceremony, however.
The singer later took the stage once again to perform her new single, First Love.
She also made history during the ceremony, becoming the first Latina and the first woman to be honoured with Billboard's Icon Award, previously bestowed to stars including Stevie Wonder, Prince and Neil Diamond.
Billboard Awards producer Larry Klein applauded the pop diva before her performances, calling her 'one of the most iconic performers of her generation'.
