The hotel where Solange Knowles assaulted Jay Z has confirmed the employee who leaked the footage has been fired.
Earlier this week a video of the 27-year-old star lashing out at her brother-in-law in an elevator after a Met Gala party, while her sister Beyoncé watched on, was released by TMZ. The event took place at The Standard hotel in New York City and officials from the venue have revealed the culprit behind the tape no longer holds a position there. It is said that the member of staff received $250,000 from the gossip site in exchange for the footage.
“The Standard has identified the individual responsible for breaching the security policies of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video released by TMZ,” officials told Page Six. “The Standard has already terminated the individual and will now be pursuing all available civil and criminal remedies. The Standard will next be turning over all available information to the criminal authorities.”
It has yet to be confirmed what triggered Solange to hit out at the rapper. Some reports suggest Jay Z was angry at her after she used his name to get her friends into a party without his permission, while HollywoodLife.com claims the singer has held a grudge against the rapper for a while as she feels let down by his career advice. Her sister Beyoncé has made a massive impact on the music industry, while Solange has struggled to top charts with her two albums.
“Solange has shown anger and resentment to Jay Z for a long time. Jay has a knack for finding and fostering talent - Rihanna, Calvin Harris, J. Cole, etc. Solange has wanted to come out of her sister’s shadow for forever and become her own star, and is always looking at B and Jay for advice," a source told the website. "But she has this very odd way of handling his feedback. He will tell her, honestly, that ‘this song is a hit’ or ‘this won’t connect with people,’ and she doubles back, claiming that she’s an indie artist and can’t make decisions based on trends. It doesn’t make much sense. He always says that she shouldn’t ask his opinion if she doesn’t care.”
