Chris Rock will cheer on 'the little people' at the BET Awards.
The 49-year-old comedian announced Wednesday he will be hosting the forthcoming ceremony.
And although Jay-Z and Beyonce are up for trophies, Chris will save most of his cheers for more lesser-known talent.
"I'm rooting for everybody," he told People magazine. "It's weird because I usually root for the person whose life it'll change the most. I love Beyonce, but she'll be fine whether she wins or not. I root for the little people."
Chris has also adopted an egalitarian policy about jokes, as he is prepared to make anyone in attendance the victim of a one-liner.
"Nobody is off limits," the funnyman confirmed. "I'm sure I'll get some memo I'll ignore."
Chris says fans can expect to hear hilarious puns from him while he emcees the ceremony.
The Grown Ups star also assures audiences he will deliver laughs using his classic comedic style.
"To me you've got to get in that barbershop funny," he said. "You've got to know what's going on. Be aware. Get your timing. I don't change a lot. I try to pay attention to the show."
Several artists are up for awards this year at the annual event, which celebrates black entertainment. Janelle Monáe, Jhene Aiko, K. Michelle, Rihanna, Tamar Braxton, Drake, Chris Brown and more have a chance at scooping up a trophy for their work.
The 2014 BET Awards are scheduled to take place June 29 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
