Rita Ora has revealed her new song is about someone in her life who “changed everything”.

The singer secured the UK Number 1 position with her song I Will Never Let You Down at the weekend. The song was co-written and produced by her boyfriend Calvin Harris and during an interview to promote the single, the 23-year-old hinted heavily that it was about their relationship and his positive influence on her.

“Someone came into my life that really helped me for the better, made me see things differently,” she explained during an appearance at the Radio 1 Academy in Glasgow, Scotland. “Y’know I opened my eyes to reality almost. It changed everything, from how I would wake up in the morning and brush my teeth before that person wakes up, I would do girly things I never did before. I am normally the manly-ish girl on the planet.”

Rita has been dating the 30-year-old Scottish DJ since May 2013. Although the couple don’t get to spend a lot of time together because of their hectic work schedules, the Radioactive singer couldn’t stop singing her beau’s praises.

“Things were changing for the better,” she added. “There are times when we are different sides of the world and you get really lonely and you think ‘oh no, I hope that person doesn’t think I am wasting my time or his time’. The song is my way of saying ‘y’know we can figure it out’. I don’t know if anyone has ever been in a long distance relationship, but they are pretty tough. But if you want to make something work, you gotta make it work. So that is what the song is about for me personally.”
