Kerrang! magazine has revealed their definitive shortlist of rockstars and metallers in the nominations for the Relentless Kerrang! Awards 2014.

The night of rock’n’roll mayhem takes place on Thursday 12 June at London’s Troxy, and will be hosted by legendary partier Andrew W.K. and Anthrax guitar god Scott Ian.

Storming to the front of the pack are Surrey rockers You Me At Six, who are nominated for an incredible FIVE awards, as they continue to celebrate their best 12 months yet: as well as hitting the No. 1 album spot in January with fourth studio album Cavalier Youth, the band played a sold-out show at London’s Alexandra Palace in April. They already have four Relentless Kerrang! Awards on their mantelpiece, and will be hoping to walk away with Best Single (presented by Kerrang! Radio), Best Album (presented by Relentless Energy Drink), Best British Band and Best Live Band, as well as Hottest Male (for guitarist Max Helyer) at this year’s ceremony.

Representing British music and going head-to-head with their international rivals, Norfolk-based Kerrang! favourites Deaf Havana are nominated for Best Video (presented by Kerrang! TV), while UK Top 20 metalcore act Architects join You Me At Six to battle Avenged Sevenfold, Tonight Alive and Polish extreme metallers Behemoth for the prestigious Best Album prize (presented by Relentless Energy Drink). Meanwhile, Sheffield’s finest metallers, Bring Me The Horizon, will be out to get the Relentless Kerrang! Award they DON’T already have on their shelf – Best Live Band – but they’ll be fending off competition from You Me At Six, letlive., Paramore and Nottingham’s Baby Godzilla, who receive their first-ever Relentless Kerrang! Awards nomination in honour of their incendiary shows, including their sets on this year’s Kerrang! Tour.

Another debut UK music award nomination goes to Australia’s hottest new pop-rock export, 5 Seconds Of Summer, who are shortlisted for Best International Newcomer, alongside Crossfaith, Issues, State Champs and We Came As Romans.

Representing the classic rock end of the Kerrang! music spectrum, Kiss’ Gene Simmons is nominated for Tweeter Of The Year – his 140-character posts will be up against those of social network nemeses Gerard Way, Mark Hoppus, Keith Buckley and Pete Wentz. Iconic British metallers Iron Maiden are nominated for Best British Band alongside Asking Alexandria, Bring Me The Horizon, Biffy Clyro and You Me At Six, while Bay Area thrash legends Metallica are up for for Best International Band and Best Film.
