Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have reportedly not received their marriage license just yet.

The couple were the subject of rampant rumours over the weekend that they had technically tied the knot.

While Kim’s spokesperson has yet to comment on the claims, a source tells America’s People magazine the reality TV star has yet to officially become “Mrs. West”.

Kim and Kanye were meanwhile seen arriving in New York City on Sunday for the annual Met Ball. The couple flew in from Paris, where they are rumoured to be planning an extravagant ceremony.

People reports the pair will return to the city later this month for the nuptials, apparently scheduled for May 24 at Chateau Louis XIV. RadarOnline previously reported the ceremony could take place closer to home, in Los Angeles.

Reports have surfaced the couple's lawyers have advised that marrying in the US first would help them to avoid lengthy legal restraints overseas.

“Typically, the US recognises citizens getting married in France, but dealing with a foreign government and paperwork could be a nightmare,” an insider explained to Radar. “So just to make sure it’s legal, Kim and Kanye will first be having a civil ceremony in Southern California.”

Kim and Kanye became engaged in October of last year, four months after she gave birth to the couple’s first child, a daughter named North.

It will be Kim’s third marriage, and Kanye’s first. The reality star was previously wed to basketball player Kris Humphries for 72 days in 2010.

Prior to that, Kim was married to Damon Thomas between 2000 and 2004.
