Liam Payne reportedly broke up with girlfriend Sophia Smith due to his busy schedule.
The One Direction star and Middlesex University student Sophia have been dating for nine months – but it looks like the relationship is over.
Liam’s 69-date Where We Are Tour is said to be the main reason the couple have split up.
“Liam said she is the sweetest girl he’s ever met and he’s really sad about the split. But he knows it was the right thing to do,” a source told UK newspaper The Sun. “He wants her to enjoy university and not be sad waiting for him to come back from tour for the odd day here and there.”
Liam apparently had a crush on Sophia since they went to school together in his hometown of Wolverhampton. Finally getting to go out with his childhood crush was a dream come true for the singer, but in the end the long-distance relationship was said to be too much.
“Liam and Sophia were inseparable and he couldn’t believe his luck when he finally landed the girl he’d spent his schooldays dreaming would one day go out with him. But they just didn’t know how they would be able to make a long-distance romance work. But the huge crowds of fans flocking to their gigs every night have given him everything he needs to keep going.”
Liam hinted that his heart was broken via a stream of recent Twitter posts.
"Can't be without you… No all I got left is the thought of you… Worse thing I ever did was let you go (sic)," Liam tweeted in to his 16.5 million followers.
