Meryl Streep’s “second career” as a rapper “beckons”, according to co-star James Corden.

The Hollywood legend will share the screen with the English actor in forthcoming film Into The Woods.

Meryl plays The Witch, who conspires to teach lessons to storybook characters including Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Cinderella, in the fantasy comedy.

And James says she’s been learning a new skill set to perfect her character.

“She’s less an Eminem, more a 50 Cent type. Mainstream with an edge,” James mused to UK newspaper The Sun, adding that fans may be surprised by her lyrical talents.

Meryl could certainly have received a few tips from 50 earlier this year, as the pair were seen enjoying a basketball game in New York together back in January.

Meryl was pictured laughing and clasping hands with the Candy Shop rapper, who later uploaded a picture of the duo on Instagram.

“Man I got a good life man lol,” he captioned the shot.

Meryl has yet to elaborate on reports of her rap skills. But she may be testing them on other stars in addition to James.

Rob Marshall is directing an A-list cast in the upcoming feature, including Anna Kendrick (Cinderella), Johnny Depp (The Wolf), Emily Blunt (The Baker’s Wife), Chris Pine (Cinderella’s Prince) and Christine Baranski (Cinderella’s Stepmother).

Into The Woods is scheduled for US release on Christmas Day 2014.
