Ice Cube has slammed reports he dissed Paul Walker after losing at the MTV Movie Awards.
The rapper-turned-actor came under fire at the weekend after USA Today reported he said he “robbed” in the Best Onscreen Duo category for his performance alongside Kevin Hart in Ride Along.
Fast & Furious 6 co-stars Vin Diesel and late actor Paul Walker scooped the prize.
But Ice insists he never made the remarks, and lashed out at reporters suggesting he's a sore loser.
“Re: The MTV Awards. I wasn't really mad we didn't win. So I would never diss the actors who won. Not even Paul Walker. Seriously people!” he tweeted on Monday, urging readers not to “believe the hype”.
“Re: MTV Awards. Ice Cube is not a sore loser. I was born losing. This winning sh*t is what I gotta get use to,” he added.
Ice Cube also insisted the reason he left the ceremony was misconstrued.
He admitted to walking out, but said it wasn’t because he and Kevin were snubbed.
“Re: Leaving early from the MTV Awards. They told me our catagory wasn't gonna be televised. So I left. Just promoting that RIDE ALONG DVD,” he wrote (sic).
“We should honor people before they die. That's all. Shame on you ‘make something out of nothing’ a** reporters.
Smh… Last tweet and I'mma leave it alone. Remember this: A lie travels further then the truth. Damn the devil is busy... And Paul Walker fans don't trip. I was a fan too,” he ranted.
Vin hadn’t responded publicly to the comments at press time. But the actor did post his tearful acceptance speech, videotaped from the set of Fast & Furious 7, on Facebook.
“Back in 2002 it was you, the MTV audience, that first acknowledged this brotherhood between Paul and myself by honouring us with the Best Team on Film [award]," he said.
"So it’s surreal standing here 12 years later, and that you have been so generous to give us this award again. I wish he could be here to see this but I know he’s here in spirit. Thank you for honouring me, and more importantly, thank you for honouring that angel, my brother Paul Walker,” he continued.
Paul passed away last November in a fatal car accident in Santa Clarita, California.
The actor, only 40, was on break from filming Fast & Furious 7. Producers are reportedly using CGI in scenes where Paul is missing, and are planning to release the film in the summer of 2015.
