Rod Stewart would never do the washing up.

The legendary rocker is married to model Penny Lancaster and together they have children Alastair and Aiden. He was known as a womaniser in his heyday and fathered eight kids with five of his partners in total.

Despite having such a large family, household chores have never appealed to the 69-year-old.

"Washing up? Never! Housework isn't for me. I need to look after my hands," he told German newspaper Bild.

Penny chipped in: "He organises our TV schedule. Football on every channel!"

Rod and Penny married in 2007 and have been going strong since then. They believe they have found the perfect way to keep their relationship alive.

"Lots of sex and lots of wine! That makes everyone happy," Rod smiled.

"And lots of sport! My husband is the fittest 69-year-old in the whole world. He trains so hard, works out five times a week," Penny gushingly added.

Rod assured: "I've never smoked in my life. Just a few glasses of wine - but never before sunset."

The stars also make time for getaways without the kids. Just before their interview with the publication, they jetted to Paris together.

"I whisked my wife away on a romantic date," Rod smiled. "In 2005 I proposed to Penny at the top of the Eiffel Tower.

"And I just thought, don't cry now, just say yes! Because I'd just had an operation on my knee and it really hurt getting down on the floor like that."
