Simon Cowell was “extremely competitive” while go-karting with his staff on Thursday.

The media mogul reportedly hired out an entire London go-karting track as a thank you to his Syco staff for all their hard work.

But apparently Simon couldn’t quite let go of his competitive mentality at the event.

“It was hilarious seeing how seriously Simon took it,” a source told UK newspaper The Mirror.

“The rest of the team were having a laugh, but Simon had this look in his eye, which we have all come to recognise, meaning that he meant business. There was no let up from him during the racing, and he had no qualms about bumping down people he works with – even women – so he could get pole position.”

Simon’s girlfriend Lauren Silverman was also at the track, but is said to have declared herself bored after just two laps.

Simon has never hidden his desire to win, having spoken before about how important it is to him.

“I’m exceptionally competitive and ambitious. It is relentless, relentless, relentless,” he told the outlet. “I can’t help it. Sometimes I’m glad, sometimes I wish I wasn’t like that all the time. I can never switch off. It was great fun and even better my team won!”

Simon and Lauren welcomed their son Eric Philip Cowell in New York in February.

According to the 54-year-old, he is already thinking about giving little Eric a brother or sister.

“I wouldn't rule out [more children],” he told ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour on Extra, adding that he felt he was born to be a dad.
