The man who has previously headlined Glastonbury festival with two different bands (Blur & Gorillaz) will return on his own this summer for his first solo shows. Damon Albarn is famed for his role in the rise of Britpop during the 90’s and cemented his legacy again in the 2000’s for his computer animated band the Gorillaz.

Damon recently released his first ever solo LP Everyday Robots which has lacked any commercial success but is slowly gaining momentum. Everyday Robots is Damon’s most personal record since his early Blur days and hopefully it will continue to gain some traction, however Damon’s back catalogue is extensive and he is a must see this summer even if it’s just to check out his older work.

Whilst I’m afraid renditions of classics like ‘Song 2’, ‘Coffee and TV’ and ‘Tender’ are very unlikely you can expect to hear a few Gorillaz classics such as ‘Feel Good Inc’, ‘Tomorrow Comes Today’ and ‘El Havana’ which have regularly featured in Damon’s solo tour.

Damon Albarn’s festival dates: Festival S.O.S 4.8 (May 3rd), Down the Rabbit Hole (June 27th) Malta Festival Poznan (June 29th), Rock Werchter (3rd July), Rosklide (4th July), Le Nuits de Fourviere (5th July), Festival Beauregard(6th July), Days Off Festival (9th July), Exit Festival (July 12th) and Latitude festival (19th July) before heading off to the Fuji Rock Festival.
