One Direction are reportedly set to get 100 bodyguards for their US shows.

The British boyband are a massive hit across the pond and start their Where We Are stadium tour in Colombia on April 25.

Each member of the band, made up of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik, will apparently be protected by 20 security men in a bid to make sure there are no awkward fan incidents.

"It’s mainly Niall and Liam who are starting to get really obsessive about security. Liam’s fears grew after two fans stole his pants in Australia last year," a 1D insider revealed to British newspaper The Daily Star.

The occasion happened last October, when an over excited fan tired to force her way into Liam's room while he was asleep. The event shook the 20-year-old, which could account for the beefed up security measures.

Irish charmer Niall has also been struggling with his own personal issues and is keen for extra support.

"Niall is getting more and more sensitive because of his panic attacks," the source added.

“It’s an insane amount of security for one band, but considering the way crowds form around them, it’s necessary.”

Fellow boyband 5 Seconds of Summer recently spoke about how envious they are of the fan attention one Direction receive.

The Australian four piece supported the Midnight Memories singers on tour last year and saw firsthand how crazy fans can be.

"We've heard stories from other people about them going into hotel showers and a fan is already in there. I reckon that could be funny actually," guitarist Michael Clifford laughed to British newspaper Metro.

One Direction's new tour will see the boys take in dates across Latin America, North America and Europe, and could earn the band a cool $1billion dollars.
