Rihanna's ex-bookkeeper insists she 'squandered money' herself, according to new reports.
The 26-year-old Disturbia singer brought a lawsuit against accounting firm Berdon LLP in 2012, accusing the financial institution of gross management of her funds.
And according to court documents obtained by Page Six, lawyers for one of the accountants accuse Rihanna of being financially inept.
'Peter Gounis . had no role or responsibility for how much money was made and/or spent,' the filing reportedly reads, noting her 2010 Last Girl on Earth Tour was a money pit.
'The tour was what she wanted, just as the exorbitant amount of expensive clothing and other purchases she squandered her money on were.'
Attorneys go on to describe a situation in which the accountant was helpless to curb Rihanna's spending.
According to the defendant, the singer wasted heaps of money on expensive personal items.
'At the end of her two-year spending spree she had rooms of shoes, clothing and jewellery and fond, if not hazy, memories of extravagant parties, but little cash,' the court document allegedly claims.
'Was it really necessary to tell her that if you spend money for things you will end up with the things, and not the money?'
According to TMZ, Rihanna insisted she had $11 million in cash at the beginning of 2009, but an estimated $9 million of this money was mishandled.
Berdon LLP is accused of giving her the green light to purchase a $7 million mansion, which she sold later for a $2 million loss. Apparently the firm also declined to alert her when the 2010 Last Girl on Earth Tour began losing a significant amount of money.
