Anna Wintour remembers L’Wren Scott as “kind” and “so much fun”.

The American Vogue editor is one of many celebrities paying tribute to the late model and fashion designer who was found dead of an apparent suicide in New York on Monday.

In a letter posted on the magazine’s website, Anna spoke of her sadness at L’Wren’s passing.

"I am deeply saddened by the loss of L'Wren Scott," she wrote. "L'Wren was a total perfectionist, someone who absolutely embodied everything her marvelous clothes stood for: strength of character combined with a confident and powerful style. In person, L'Wren was always unbelievably generous, gracious, kind, and so much fun. Her old world American manners and charm were from another time, but her sensibility was always fiercely modern. We will all miss her."

L’Wren worked with a number of celebrities, including Nicole Kidman, Michelle Obama, Angelina Jolie and Madonna.

Her death has caused shockwaves through the fashion industry, with many speaking out about their grief at her untimely passing.

“Heartbroken to learn of the loss of the lovely and talented L'Wren Scott. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. May she rest in peace,” tweeted Bianca Jagger.

“Just got news of the beautiful L'wren Scott's death perhaps by her own hand. I am devastated. A rare, wonderful, talented soul. Goodbye,” said Bette Midler.

Olivia Wilde also paid tribute via Twitter, writing, “L'wren Scott was brilliant, elegant, kind, and generous. My heart goes out to her loved ones. What a tragedy.”

L’Wren had been dating Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger since 2001. The musician was in Australia with his band at the time of her death.

“Mick is terribly devastated," a source told Us Weekly. “He is inconsolable."
