Demi Lovato was close to cancelling her show Tuesday night.

The 21-year-old singer is currently on her Neon Lights Tour but a sore throat has forced her to forgo previous obligations, including a promotional appearance in New York.

Demi warned fans on Twitter she wasn’t feeling her best before taking the stage in Uniondale, Long Island, and asked for their help getting through her sets.

“The last thing I would EVER want to do is cancel a show, with that being said I'm super sick tonight so it may not be my best show BUT I'm SO excited to perform for you guys but I may need you to sing most of the show for me!!! Hahaha,” she wrote.

Demi shared she had been forced to cancel an appearance on Long Island’s 106.1 radio station in order to save her voice.

Fortunately, producers seemed understanding.

The star tweeted a photo of a bag of cough drops and a note from a spokesperson for the programme reading: “Demi, Bummed our chat got cancelled but your voice at 100% for your Long Island #Lovatics is more important than me!

We’ll catch ya next time, feel better, and kick a** tonight!! Love ya, @Sykeatnight.”

Demi was thankful for the well-wishes, but hinted she felt a bit guilty.

“Awww, thanks @1061BLI!!! You guys always make me feel special & I can't thank you enough for understanding. XOX,” she wrote.

Demi won’t have much time to rest and recover, however. After her Long Island show, she’s scheduled to travel to Auburn Hills, Michigan for a show on Thursday – one of nearly a dozen concerts she has booked through the end of the month.

The star will get a brief break until April 23, however, before she heads to South America. The tour will trek back to North American before wrapping in Monterrey, Mexico on May 17.
