Katy Perry is reportedly “relieved” her relationship with John Mayer is over.

John and Katy have been dating on and off since 2012, and apparently broke up again last month.

According to E! News, Katy had been thinking about splitting from John for some while before the break up happened.

The Roar star was said to feel that something was missing in their relationship, and the strong differences in their personalities convinced her there was no future for them.

Katy reportedly ignored the strong doubts she felt for a long time before making the decision to end her romance with John, and is relieved it is over.

While there were reports that the musician cheated on her and that was the tipping point, apparently the alleged fling was during one of their “off” periods. Katy is said to be relieved he didn’t do anything dishonest and just felt they were not compatible long-term.

Katy and John’s strong personalities do appear to be a strong factor in their breakup, according to reports.

"They're two very strong-willed people," a source told People magazine. "Despite caring about each other very much and wanting to make it work, they are, at their core, quite different."

Apparently the age cap was also an issue, with 29-year-old Katy wanting to go out while John, 36, wanted a more time lifestyle.

"At times they seemed really happy together and in love, and other times he seemed like he just wanted to get away from all the parties and go home. I can't say I always blamed him," the source added.
