Pharrell Williams thinks Miley Cyrus is "gracious" for featuring on his album.
The singer released G I R L yesterday and the 21-year-old provides vocals on track Come Get It Bae, while other stars including Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys and Daft Punk also feature on the record.
Oscar-nominated Pharrell provided vocals on Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines and Daft Punk's Get Lucky last year and is pleased others are doing the same for him.
"Yeah, you call them and say, 'Hey, I need you,' and they were all very nice and gracious enough to do it," he explained to ET Online.
"I wanted people who emoted when they do what they do; it needed to be more than just their great voice and how it sounds."
Pharrell's Happy appeared on the soundtrack for Despicable Me 2 and even earned him a nomination at this year's Academy Awards.
He's on a roll with his music and revealed what inspired him when dreaming up G I R L.
"I knew I wanted [the album] to be visceral and urgent. I knew I wanted it to be celebratory and festive," the 40-year-old said. "It's the album I've always dreamt of making. It's a love story, and that's why the album is made for human beings, it's made for everyone. It's just that my muse were women."
Pharrell was always sure of the album's title and his fans have responded well to the new release.
He knows that without them he wouldn't be enjoying the same level of success.
"It's pretty awesome and I have the people to thank, because they lifted me this high," he gushed.
"It's them, the stuff they do, that takes us to where we are. If they don't vote, share or download then I wouldn't be here."
