Josh Groban is pleased the song category at the Oscars is getting the recognition it deserves.
The musician was previously nominated for the Best Original Song category, for song Believe from The Polar Express.
The 33-year-old performed the song with Beyonce at the 77th Academy Awards in 2005, but believes the category is much more appreciated now.
This year’s musical performances played a much larger role, and Josh was delighted with the result.
“I'm glad that they're actually putting a focus on making sure the song category gets it's due," Josh told Entertainment Tonight at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar-viewing party.
"When I had a song that was nominated, it was kind of an afterthought… But music is a huge part of film. As a fellow musician I'm glad that they're using that as a big part of it this year."
Last night saw performances from all four nominated songs including Pharrell Williams, U2, Karen O and Idina Menzel.
Then Pink performed Somewhere Over the Rainbow in tribute to Judy Garland and the 75th anniversary of The Wizard Of Oz.
The singer received a standing ovation from the audience for her performance, including Judy’s daughters Liza Minelli and Lorna Luft, who were also in attendance.
But there was nobody prouder than her husband Carey Hart, who took to Twitter to sing her praises.
“My wife just killed #TheOscars . Im so proud of you baby.”
Pink, real name Alecia Moore, retweeted him before adding, “I love you too dream boy”.
