Liam Hemsworth reportedly "melts like butter" when Miley Cyrus is sweet to him.
The two stars were engaged for a little over a year before confirming they had gone their separate ways in September 2013. Although they have both been linked to other people since then, they are said to be back on speaking terms.
"These two just can't get over each other," an insider claimed to National Enquirer. "Even though they're dating other people, they're back in touch and that's giving Miley hope again. She's being super sweet to Liam and when she acts like that, he melts like butter."
Shortly after their split Liam was spotted smooching Mexican actress-and-model Eiza González, but he later insisted he was single. More recently he has been linked to The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev, while it's been claimed Miley has been getting close to Jared Leto.
Despite the rumours, there is speculation that Miley isn't ready to let her dreams of a future with her ex-fiancé go yet.
"Miley's always said that when she thinks of a future husband, it's Liam's face she sees in her head," the insider claimed.
The former Disney star met Liam when they starred in 2010's The Last Song together. They got engaged when she was 19 and last year she admitted she was probably too young to make such a big decision.
"I don't think I realised what 19 truly is, and I got engaged at 19, and I definitely wouldn't change being engaged," she told Barbara Walters. "It was so fun wearing a fat rock for a few years.
"I was so scared of ever being alone, and I think, conquering that fear, this year, was actually bigger than any other transition that I had, this entire year. I don't ever want to have to need someone again, where you feel like, without them, you can't be yourself."
