Gloucestershire based festival Lakefest completes lightning line-up with third set of acts for 2014. Shed Seven, Buzzcocks, Doctor & the Medics, and the Lightning Seeds will join the previously announced bands on stage this August.

The Lakefest team is thrilled to announce this third set of acts to join the Tewkesbury based festival. Martin Newell, Lakefest organiser said “We’re really pleased with the eclectic vibe that these bands present and know that avid Lakefest fans will be delighted! Representing music from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s these four acts represent something for everyone. There are still lots of bands to be announced, but these four acts finish off our headliners nicely!”

The annual family friendly festival will be held on the 8th, 9th and 10th August 2014 at Croft Farm, Tewkesbury. Shed Seven, Buzzcocks, Doctor & The Medics and The Lightning Seeds will be joining previously announced Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Snap!, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Neville Staple, and The Bad Shepherds.

Buzzcocks are perhaps most famous for the song ‘Ever Fallen In Love With Someone, but in fact have eight studio albums, over twenty singles and EPs and a constellation of compilations. They are regularly covered by other bands and also received a Mojo Inspiration award in 2006. One of the original holy trinity of British punk (with the Sex Pistols and the Clash), they were arguably innovators of the independent record scene and genuine punk rock superstars who have been cited as inspirational by bands as diverse as REM, Nirvana and Green Day.

Shed Seven was formed in 1990 out of the ashes of Brockley Haven and went on to release four albums and fourteen Top 40 singles by 1999. Famous songs include Going for Gold, Disco Down and She Left Me on a Friday. During their career they made ten appearances on Top of the Pops, and still manage to sell out concert halls around the globe.

Doctor & the Medics released their first single in 1982 but no more until 1985, when they reach number 2 in the indie charts. They are perhaps most famous for their international hit ‘Spirit in the Sky’ which reached number 1 in the UK charts.

Lightning Seeds is fronted by Ian Broudie, who is part of the fabric of British Pop Culture. Born in the Fifties, child of the Sixties, crucial player in Liverpool punk in the Seventies, alternative rock production genius in the Eighties, pop star in the Nineties and Godfather figure to some of Liverpool’s new leading lights of the Noughties, Ian Broudie is now back with ‘Four Winds’, a new set of songs from Lightning Seeds. Broudie’s fame reached household name proportions with the success of England football anthem, ‘Three Lions’.

This announcement represents the full set of headline announcements; however a plethora of additional acts will also be added to make a jam-packed festival. Tickets for the festival are selling fast; more information and prices can be found at www.lakefest.co.uk
