Miley thinks people don’t realise “how much energy” she puts into her shows.

The 21-year-old pop star is on the road for her Bangerz Tour, which has been fraught by criticism from parents concerned about its graphic content.

But Miley insists she’s rising above the controversy – although she admits it’s tough to hear people talking so negatively.

“I don't think people realize how much energy I put into my shows & how much their bad energy brings me down,” she tweeted on Tuesday.

Miley did get some love from another pop star though. The Wrecking Ball hitmaker got a response from Cher recently when she tweeted a picture of herself singing in a thong leotard while posing on a car.

“@MileyCyrus Love 2 see Chicks kicking Ass,” Cher tweeted.

Miley recently defended herself against critics after “outraged” parents petitioned to shut her tour down, concerned the former Disney star was sending the wrong message to her young fans, according to HitFix.

“You can't say I didn't warn you. Now sit back relax & enjoy the show. #bangerztour,” the former Hannah Montana star wrote.

The tweet also included a photo of the star wearing the same thong leotard with marijuana leaves, and an image of parental advisory warning sticker on stage behind her.

“Save your complaints for the McDonalds drive thru when they forget the ‘fries with that,’” she added.
