Katy Perry has been crowned Elle magazine's Woman of the Year.
The 29-year-old pop star was honoured Tuesday at the Elle Style Awards in London.
According to the magazine, the award 'tops off a spectacular 12 months for the singer' following her chart-topping album, Prism, and hit single Roar, which has so far sold more than eight million copies worldwide.
'Katy proves that smart women can make it: earlier this month, she was named the 5th Top Global Recording Artist of 2013 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, making her the highest-ranking woman on the list,' editors write.
The magazine also lauds Katy's defiance in the face of cookie-cutter pop stars, insisting she isn't afraid to stand out.
The Firework hitmaker and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador is known to make fun of herself, and her fans, they note, appreciate that.
'She also shows that you don't have to conform, that a sense of humour is sexy (as her Roar video proves), and that you can support, rather than compete, with your contemporaries ' she loves, and supports, women,' editors continue.
'Last year also saw Katy. become the most-followed artist on Twitter. The reason? Her down-to-earth attitude, determination and talent: she is the everywoman, hear her roar.'
Katy wasn't the only star taking home an honour at the star-studded ceremony, however.
Other winners included Lily Allen (UK Recording Artist Female), Tinie Tempah (UK Recording Artist Male), Tom Hiddleston (Man of the Year), Pharrell Williams (International Recording Artist), Emma Watson (Actress of the Year) and David Bailey (Lifetime Achievement).
