Christina Aguilera's fiancé reportedly took a year to design her ring.
The 33-year-old singer got engaged to film producer Matt Rutler on February 14, after he popped the question while they were in Hawaii.
The pair have been together for around three years, with Matt apparently sure Christina was the one for him months before he proposed.
"Matt spent over a year designing the ring with the ring designer to represent their three-year journey together as a couple," an insider told People. "He has been planning this for a while and was just waiting for the right time - the ring has been done for months. Every single placement of each stone has a reason and meaning."
Christina shared a picture of her engagement ring on Twitter, along with the caption: "He asked and I said..."
Only her and Matt's entwined hands are visible, with a huge diamond visible on the singer's ring finger.
Her fiancé apparently took the time to ensure the band was perfect, as he wanted it to be more than just a piece of jewellery for the star.
"The actual band weaves and intertwines [the] diamonds. Every connecting criss-cross symbolises how their paths crossed… the ring narrows at the base [to] reflect how their bond continues to grow closer and stronger over time," the source said.
"There are nine special multi-colour gemstones that you cannot see. They all symbolise something meaningful to the couple. Christina is very spiritual and having the stones touch her actual skin will emit positive energies surrounding her at all times. They represent things like love, protection and healing."
The band has a vintage vibe, which Matt was certain would appeal to his fiancée. He apparently based his design on a combination of two rings Christina already owns and loves, resulting in her dream piece.
This will be Christina's second trip down the aisle. She was previously married to music marketing executive Jordan Bratman, who she has six-year-old son Max with.
After filing for divorce in 2010, Christina spoke about why her marriage broke down. Shooting her 2010 movie Burlesque made her realise she wanted more from life and she began to feel unhappy at home, eventually realising she and Jordan were too different to make it work.
"Things were so unhealthy and unhappy for both Jordan and me, I knew I had to end it. It wasn't good for us, and it wasn't good for [our son] Max to witness our arguments. When you're unhappy in a marriage, your children are the ones who suffer. That's the last thing I wanted for my son," she said.
"We just weren't right for each other. I couldn't face living another five years [together]."
