Simon Cowell is overwhelmed with “love and pride” for his newborn son.

Baby Eric was born on Friday in New York, weighing 6lbs 7oz, to Simon and his partner Lauren Silverman.

The media mogul is clearly besotted by his first child, posting photos on Twitter of his new family.

In one of the photos, Simon is holding Eric with Lauren sitting next to him. “Mum, Dad and Eric. Now two days old,” read the caption.

In another heart-melting picture, Simon cradles his newborn against his chest. “I never knew how much love and pride I would feel,” he told his 9.5 million followers.

A third photo is a close-up of little Eric, with the caption “…. now you can see how very handsome little Eric is”.

Simon already revealed he named his son Eric in honour o his late father, and Philip in honour of his friend Sir Philip Green.

He and Lauren left the hospital on Sunday, according to the New York Daily News. Baby Eric was carried out of the hospital by his father and one of the hospital staff members wearing scrubs. Lauren, her father Steven, and stepmother Rosy Davis were right behind.

Simon is apparently fell in love with his son immediately, and couldn’t contain his joy.

“He told Lauren it was the best day of his life He is completely besotted,” a source told UK newspaper The Mirror.

“He is such proud dad, and they are completely obsessed. It was such an incredible and emotional day for them both.

Simon was amazing and was by Lauren’s side the entire time. He couldn’t stop smiling and there were very happy tears from everyone, including Simon. They are completely in love and so excited now Eric has arrived.”
