Abbie Cornish is “halfway through” her debut rap album.

The actress is actually a very skilled rapper, and has clips on YouTube where she displays her hip-hop talents with former band Blades.

And according to the RoboCop star, the album is nearing completion.

"I'm halfway through it, I go back into the studio at the end of February,” she told E! News. “It should be finished soon. It should be released toward the end of the year."

Artists like Eminem, who write and produce their own material, inspire Abbie. While the 31-year-old is collaborating with other musicians, she insists the record will be a true reflection of her own voice and style.

"My favourite rapper is Eminem," Abbie said. “But my music collection goes from classical to jazz to blues. My favourite era is the sixties and seventies. I have a very eclectic taste in music. I compose and write. I'm working with a lot of producers and musicians."

Abbie is currently promoting new film RoboCop and says she was thrilled to be part of the reboot. According to the Aussie star, she didn’t hesitate to accept the role of RoboCop’s wife when director José Padilha offered it to her.

"I've done a lot of art house and a lot of indies, but I loved this," she said. "It's the most fun I've had making a movie.”
Abbie was very young when the original 1987 version came out, and admits she was a huge fan.

“We had it on VHS but I was quite little, wasn't I?” she said. “My mom's over there—you can ask her why I was allowed to watch it. My brother's also over there and I watched it with him about ten times."
